Summer Showcase

Equestrian Vaulting
Oak Hills Vaulters Summer Showcase

Saturday, September 26th, is the day to see a spectator sport more suited to the circus. The Oak Hills Vaulters are presenting their annual Summer Showcase at their indoor barn in Salem, UT from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

For those who are not familiar with equestrian vaulting, it is a combination of dance and gymnastics performed singly, in doubles or in triples, on the back of a moving horse. The athletes pose, jump, twist and groove in rhythm on a horse to a variety of music while the horse walks, trots or canters in a circle. This fun performance is a joy for all ages. Watching the vaulters perform their routines on the horses is something you won't want to miss. Lovers of dance and lovers of horses will especially be enthralled.

The Summer Showcase is free to the public. Drinks and snacks will be available before the show starts.

Head coach Kylynn Warren has been with the team since she was old enough to walk and has seen it grow from a handful of students to over 45 vaulters.

Vaulting is an international competition sport with only two teams in the state of Utah. The Oak Hills Vaulters have competed in regional and national competitions for over eight years.

The vaulters range in age from three years old to adult.

The barn is located at 1435 E. 900 S. in Salem, UT. (Take Spanish Fork Main St. south, turn east towards Woodland Hills.)

Latest Email Sent Out:

Hello All!

Just a few reminders about the summer showcase on September 26th. The performance will start at 6:00pm, However ALL vaulters need to arrive no later than 4:30 pm for one extra practice. Spectators may start arriving to set up chairs as early as 5:30 pm.

Advertise:
I have attached a flyer for you to email out to all your friends or to print off and post around your town! Please please please help up advertise this event as much as possible! Hang flyers in your school, local gas stations, grocery stores, etc. If you have the ability to print larger poster size, or regular size nice, good quality, colored copies for a donation to our club, please let me know asap. We can also provide a tax write off for your donation if need be.

What to Wear:
All Vaulters will be required to wear black capri leggings or vaulting pants, black sock, and black vaulting shoes. We will also be wearing our ivault shirts if you have purchased one. If you have not purchased an ivault shirt, and do not plan to, no worries! Just have your vaulter wear a SOLID, BRIGHT colored tshirt that is one of the following colors: Hot Pink, Yellow, Green, Red, or Orange. All vaulters are also required to wear a black tank top, tshirt, or unitard under their colored tshirt. This black shirt will need to be tucked into the vaulters pants to help prevent midriffs from showing. If you have any questions about what your vaulter needs to wear, please let me know.

Program:
I have attached a ROUGH DRAFT file of the program. I will probably be changing orders/horses around etc. I just need you to check and make sure you vaulter IS ON the program, as well as check to see if I have all spelling correct. Like I said, this is just a rough draft so please help me to correct any errors you may find. If you know someone who would like to be a sponsor of this event please let me know as well. Donations as small as $25 will get their company name on the back of our program, as well as an announcement during our show. Larger donations have the opportunity to make it on our flyer, as well as hanging their company banner in the arena during our performance.

Concessions Stand:
I was thinking of having a 'bake sale' for this year's concession stand during our performance. If you would be willing to donate cookies, peanut butter bars, cupcakes, ect to our stand, please let me know. Also, if you are able to help out with running our concessions stand either before or during intermission, please let me know as well. We will also be selling drinks and the remainder of our ivault shirts in the concessions as well. We want to try our best to make this an easy/high profit stand so if you have any suggestions I am more than open to any ideas you may have!

Other Items of Business:

Tshirts: We still have plenty of tshirts in most colors/sizes for sale! If you did not receive yours, talk to your coach about it during class!

Payson Parade: Unfortunately we did not make the deadline to be in this year's Payson Parade...So I hope you all have a fun Labor Day Weekend!!

Vegas: If you are planning on going, please get back to me as soon as possible so I can get everything entered without to much stress near the end of the month. I would like to start at least entering horses and vaulters into the online system.
You are responsible for letting me know which class numbers you would like to participate in so I can enter you in the online entry system. Please do this as soon as possible if you know that you are already going.
All USEF classes (Bronze and higher) will be held on Sunday this year, leaving Copper, Trot, Walk, and Barrel classes for Saturday.

State Fair: Our Demo team was scheduled to perform at the State Fair, Thursday Sept. 10th. However, after talking it over with the fair committee, it has been decided that with it being the very first day of the fair we would not really have a crowd this year. Considering we would all have to leave school early, drive to SLC, and be ready to perform by 4:00; it isn't really worth our trip this year. The committee has promised us a better time slot for next years fair.

Thank you so much for all of your support and patience in helping to make our vaulting program wonderful!

Happy Vaulting!
KyLynn

Salem Parade and Updates

Thank you for everyone that attended the Salem City Parade! We had a blast being able to have the chance to perform for our hometown! Salem City really appreciated us bringing in something new to their parade this year. I hope everyone had a great time. I do have a few missing items (shoes, jackets, waterbottles) that I picked up after the parade. If you are missing anything please check in the stretching stall for those items.

We will be having a dress rehearsal this coming Thursday at 4:30 for all demo team vaulters. Our performance at the County Fair will be at 3:00 Friday afternoon at the Spanish Fork fairgrounds in the main arena. Demo Team Vaulters will need to arrive by 2:00 at the fairgrounds in the same attire that we wore to the Heritage Demo.

Please let all your family and friends know about this fun, free event! What a great way to introduce them to the sport of vaulting! We would love all your support at the fair, so I hope to see you there!

I can’t believe school starts so soon! Remember that we will be taking off vaulting this coming week: August 17th* through the 22th* to let you all get a chance to settle in your new busy schedules! We will resume classes on Monday August 24th* with our new fall schedule.

A few people have expressed conflict with the Tuesday 5:30 - 7:00 beginning canter class. I may be changing this class around, I'm just trying to figure out a time that will work into the schedule. (it may be moving to Saturday morning, so let me know if that won't work for you either) But for now, if you are scheduled to be in that class just come when you can and I will let you know more details very soon.

Remember that our Summer Showcase event has been scheduled for September 26th from 6:00-8:00pm at Oak Hills. All vaulters should have their routines memorized as well as their music picked out, and brought into their coaches no later than August 30th. I will be sending out a program soon for you to check over spelling, times, etc. on each of your vaulters.

If you have any questions please let me know and I'll do my best to answer them for you :] Have a great rest of your summer and remember that there will be NO vaulting classes held next week.

Thank You,

KyLynn

Parade/Calendar

We will be involved in this years Salem City Parade on August 8th. This will be a great opportunity to have the chance to show our home town what we have to offer so close to them! All parade participants need to access the staging area via the Tesoro Gas Station at 500 West onto 300 South. DO NOT USE 300 WEST! Judging begins at 9:30 am which means we need to have our float, horses, and vaulters ready no later than 9:00 am. All Vaulters should arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 am on parade day.

The horses and vaulting barrel trailer will be there at 8:00 am to get things decorated and ready to go. Parade attire will consist of what we wore to the Provo Freedom Festival Parade. Black pants or capris, vaulting shoes, your red or navy oak hills shirt, or a plain red, white, or navy tshirt with NO LOGOS. You will also need to wear a white or black tank top, or tshirt that can be used as an under shirt for tucking in! NO MIDRIFFS SHOWING!! Your undershirt will need to be able to stay tucked in while you do a handstand and cartwheel.

We will be running our 'performances' for this parade just like we did for Provo; mainly our double/triple routines with a few individuals here and there. If you would like to come by for pictures of the float, horses, or your vaulters, please take care of that BEFORE the parade starts.

If you have any questions regarding the parade, please let me know.

What the rest of our summer looks like so far:

August 8th: Salem Days Parade 8:30 am

August 14th: Utah County Fair (Demo Team) 3:00 pm Spanish Fork Fairgrounds. Please bring your family and friends to watch this free and fun event! A great way to get your eyes open for some great and advanced vaulting.

August 17th-22nd: NO VAULTING (first week of school, break before fall schedule begins)

August 19th: School Starts

August 24th: NEW Fall Schedule Begins

September 10th: (Thursday) Utah State Fair Performance (Demo Team)

September 26th: Summer Showcase Event; Evening performance at Oak Hills (ALL Vaulters)
